12v Latching Relay Module
The Latching Relay Module will indefinitely Latch and unlatch the coil of a relay,
or vice versa with each consecutive pulse or constant input voltage on one of
the corresponding inputs.
Normally the coil of a relay will only stay latched provided there is a constant voltage across the coil. If the input voltage is a pulse then the relay will flick on and off. The LRM has two available inputs, allowing either a HIGH (12v) or a LOW (GND).
Both inputs are tied together internally, essentially forming only one output.
The Reset (RST) input is handy when you don’t know the state of the relay. When the RST is taken LOW the relay will reset, and the coil will not be in circuit.
Features •There is a Status LED onboard. The Status LED indicates that the relay is latched ‘ON’. An external status LED can be connected. •The unit should be connected to a power source that originates from the cars accessories (ACC) Power. The accessories wire is only an active 12v when the cars ignition switch is in the ACC Position. This wire will stay at GND when the car is off, thus not powering the LRM circuit. This will assure that a connected device will not drain the car's battery. When the car is turned OFF, the relay will unlatch and turn a device OFF. •This same theory apples to any input or output line. If it is HIGH when active then it will normally stay LOW. If the wire is LOW when active then it will remain HIGH when not active. •The HIGH/LOW inputs of the LRM can be connected to the corresponding outputs of a button or controling device. •The output lead marked relay will complete the ground side of a LOAD that is connected to a positive rail. Connection •The inputs of the LMR can be connected to an array of different devices, whether it is a concealed button on the dash, an output from the alarm system, from an alarm accessory or the output from a spare button of your RKE (remote keyless entry). •The relay on the output of the LRM can control anything in the car, from the headlight to the starter motor, an Amplifier system, cabin accessories, neon lights or any accessory that can be switched remotely. •There are many useful applications for this module on an automotive electrical system.
