This unit will discourage problems like: drawing the max current from your main power supply, it will not allow 'back emf' and high currents to damage switches, and it won't heat up solenoids left "in-circuit". The onboard LED will light when the unit is ready. When a point is operated by a momentary push button on the control panel, the LED will extinguish and come back on as the capacitor charges.
