Why Vote?

This may not apply to all countries, but the argument is: Why Vote?

The main purpose of a government is to provide for those who cannot look after themselves.
This applies to the invalid, sick, demented, aged and unfortunately a large number of people unwilling to support themselves.

It also has to run instrumentalities such a schools, hospitals, doctors, police, fire, jails,  ambulance, armed services, social services, border services as well as provide sewerage, sanitation, roads, electricity, and  gas.

The only time a government brings in a law to benefit the people is to encourage a change in government.
All the other acts and bills are restrictive - either to business or freedom of movement.

But the questions is: WHY VOTE?

Do you think you think your vote will count?

In most cases you vote will end up in a pile with thousands of others, but in some cases the final determination of a candidate has been less than 100 votes. In one case it was 6 votes.

This candidate can then become the deciding factor in a hung parliament and the end result is 6 people have decided the whole outcome of 3 years of parliamentary session.

Absolutely amazing, isn't it?

However, let me say one thing.

It is best to vote for a minor party or a change in government as changes always bring in new benefits for the "downtrodden" and it's only a change of government that increases pensions and improves health coverage for everyone.

These are basic requirements that only a government can provide and for this reason we need it (or them).

You have to remember that money comes from no-where. That's the purpose of the National Debt. It is money given to the poor, schools, teachers, doctors, hospitals, police, fire, armed services for wages and support because the taxation system does not input nearly enough to cover the cost of running a country.

Some workers are taxed enormously with income tax, sales tax, consumption tax, death duties, land tax, buying and selling taxes, but these all add up to only a fraction of the outgoing expenses needed to support a nation.

So, when you vote for a change in government, you are simply, "stirring the pot" and waking-up the decision-makers to improve the situation.
It's only a government that can "pull money out of the air" and keep a country running. The national debt is Billions more than ever disclosed.
You only have to take the simple case of our family grandparents. One was a teacher and paid $20,000 into a retirement fund. They lived to 75 and 94, drawing $550,000 in pensions.
Now look at every school, University, police, serviceman etc and a similar costing applies. For every teacher, policeman and serviceman there is a retiree or absentee on sick-leave. Who pays all the bills???
That's why we need a government.
