This is the second project to control a point motor automatically and this design converts a manual set of points to automatic, by using a SERVO.
A SERVO is a motor and gearbox with an output that rotates up to 270 degrees.
You need to read all the previous article IR MOTOR CONTROLLER MkI to get all the background details.

                         INFRA-RED POINT MOTOR CONTROLLER MkII

These features are contained in our simple design and can be built in an evening on Matrix Board.  A kit of components is available from Talking Electronics as well as a pre-programmed microcontroller.

Features:
n Operates point motor using a SERVO (PWM control).
n Operates point motor alternatively
"ahead" or "siding"
n Operates Servo for oncoming train to prevent "point-derailment"
n On-board LEDs indicate "ahead" or "siding"
